Tools for Reinvention, Learning & Growth
Over the years, I have learned that reinvention rarely happens alone. The right tools, books, courses, and resources can accelerate learning, build confidence, and make major life transitions feel far less overwhelming.
The resources below are tools and platforms I recommend for adults over 50 who are exploring new skills, technology, writing, creativity, personal growth, and life after major transitions.

AI Without Intimidation
ChatGPT
An excellent tool for brainstorming, writing, research, problem-solving, and learning new skills. I use ChatGPT regularly for content creation, business development, and exploring new ideas.
Claude
Particularly helpful for long-form writing, editing, and thoughtful analysis. Many writers appreciate Claude’s ability to work with longer documents.
Gemini
Google’s AI platform integrates well with Google products and offers another perspective when researching topics or generating ideas.
Perplexity
A powerful research tool that combines AI responses with source citations, making it useful for learning and fact-checking.
Articles & Publications
Substack
A simple platform for publishing newsletters, building an audience, and sharing ideas consistently.
WordPress
One of the most flexible platforms available for creating a website, blog, or online business.
Grammarly
A useful editing tool that helps improve clarity, grammar, and readability.
ProWritingAid
An excellent resource for writers seeking deeper editing and style suggestions.
Learning New Skills
Coursera
Offers university-level courses across a wide range of subjects, often at affordable prices.
Udemy
Provides practical, skill-based courses covering business, technology, writing, marketing, and more.
LinkedIn Learning
Especially valuable for professional development and career-related skills.
Recommended Books
These are the books that have most influenced my thinking about reinvention, creativity, focus, and personal growth.
Atomic Habits — James Clear
One of the best books available on behavior change, consistency, and long-term personal growth.
The Gap and the Gain — Dan Sullivan & Dr. Benjamin Hardy
A powerful reminder to measure progress by how far you’ve come rather than how far you still have to go.
Essentialism — Greg McKeown
A practical guide for focusing on what matters most and eliminating unnecessary distractions.
Deep Work — Cal Newport
Helpful for improving focus and accomplishing meaningful work in an increasingly distracted world.
The Artist’s Way — Julia Cameron
An excellent resource for reconnecting with creativity and overcoming self-doubt.
My Recommendation
Don’t try to reinvent your entire life at once.
Choose one book. One course. One tool. One new skill.
Small, consistent steps often create far more lasting change than dramatic overhauls.
The goal is not to become someone else.
The goal is to continue becoming who you were capable of becoming all along.
